Freiburg and Strasbourg. There are lots of bourgs, bergs, and burgs here.

Hello, friends and family! I am now in my third day in Freiburg, and I'm enjoying it a lot. I got up at 4:50 this morning to hike to this tower behind our hostel on a hill to watch the sunrise. It was kind of cloudy, and we couldn't see the sunrise, but it was an awesome view. Amanda, Mari and I had explored the trails yesterday, and it was fun to return to the 100 foot tower on the hill. For all of you that remember the intense fear of heights period in my life, you should be proud!

Yesterday we spent most of the day in Strasbourg, France. It's about an hour away. It looked pretty rainy and nasty when we left, but it was sunny and beautiful in the city when we arrived. I climbed to the bell tower of the cathedral there (yet another heights accomplishment) with a group, and you can see the whole city. I really liked the city and the food, but the French manners were a bit rude at times. One woman just walked by and flipped us off when we were just walking down the sidewalk. That's mature. But overall, a good trip.

On the way home, Dr. Z treated us to a wine tasting vinyard dinner. The little German man there was so cute and excited about his organic wines, and we sang for him, and it was a good time had by all.

I was really excited this morning to find that the cute little Frenchman that owns the bakery I frequent for breakfast speaks Spanish. Yesterday, Mari managed to order for us since she's fluent in French, but today I went by myself. With an opening polite bonjour, I pointed at what I wanted. He started rattling away in French, and with a desperate look in my face I said, hablas espanol? To my great delight he did! For once I didn't feel incompetent! He asked where my amiga was. I think he liked her :).

Today some Oregon students on exchange here are going to show us around their campus before we give an open air concert. Then of course tonight Germany is playing in the semi-finals, so we will all be gathering at the local biergarten to watch the match with the locals. Ja, Deutchland! Tomorrow we give two concerts before heading to Stuttgart on Friday. Apparently some of the German university presidents were so impressed by our performance in Tuebingen, that some are driving to Freiburg tomorrow to hear us again. President Ray (from OSU) got nothing but compliments about us, which feels pretty good!

Well, my bus is about to leave, so I must be off!
